This book is a smart, witty, funny book that almost seems out of character for Maugham. We delve into the lighter side of life with an acting family and their world of theatre.However, as I read the book, I couldn't get the movie "Being Julia" out of my mind. In fact, it was if I read the book and watched the movie at the same time. Obviously, there's more detail in the book... but I'd have been quite content to just watch the masterful Annette Benning bring Julia to life.
