3.5-4 starsGreat book - got it for a discounted price, but there's nothing discounted about the book! Love V's 7 Rules: They seem so "safe and sane" on the outset. And knowing how they came about for Vanessa, you can easily see how she came up with them and kept to them. But when all is said and done, it's amazing how quickly the "rules" become barriers - barriers to really letting people in. Because, while these rules are seemingly good things, they don't account for the human factor.Which is why, ultimately, Jackson's 7 Rules are so much better! And how he got there shows growth. While this is a quick-and-easy vacation read sort of book, it's fun. It's full of spice. And seeing the 2 points-of-view (Jackson's and Vanessa's) really helps to even out the overall story.Yes, this is a romance. Yes, it's predictable in that boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-gets-girl-back way. But the getting there is the beauty of this story. Besides, Hawaii??? C'mon! It's such a great place to get lost in! It's a realistic, unrealistic HEA contemporary romance. And it's FUN!Didn't read [b:Seducing Cinderella|15762657|Seducing Cinderella (Fighting for Love, #1)|Gina L. Maxwell|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1342860599s/15762657.jpg|21464225], and while it's not a necessary pre-read, it's interesting to me that these two weren't marked as being part of a series.
