An Assembly Such as This: A Novel of Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman

An Assembly Such as This - Pamela Aidan An enchanting look at "Pride & Prejudice" from Mr. Darcy's point-of-view... or rather the first one-third of the story, anyway. Ms. Aidan does an admirable job of recreating the time and the story. She doesn't disappoint with her portrayal of Mr. Darcy - he is as true to form as ever. Yet some of the more mysterious of his brooding and dark looks are explained satisfactorily. Ms. Aidan says she took her inspiration from the BBE/A&E "Pride and Prejudice" staring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. And as that's my favorite portrayal, as well, it's obvious to me that she fills in words and thoughts where Firth was only able to offer them through his posture and facial expressions.I quite enjoyed the book and am moving on to the second part of the 3-part tale. I only wish Ms. Aidan had attempted the story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy after their marriage...
