Hilarious! I can't stop laughing over "Pel" and "Pom"... their antics! The Earl is delightfully droll - reminds me a bit of The Scarlet Pimpernel, the way he pretends to be one thing and is quite another. And the heroine, "Horry" Horatia! At times, I felt Horry ought to be spanked, and at other times, she awed me with her boldness (especially for that day). It's quite an improbable plot. Even more improbable that a man such as the Earl would agree to marry Horatia, no matter how delicious the gossip. Of course the reader knows that the Earl will genuinely fall for her, as she genuinely falls for him. And despite all that improbability, it's quite an enchanting tale!
